Racing Helmets and Earmolds
Although we do not sell new racing helmets we will modify your existing one to work with our system by the installation of a high-noise microphone, built-in speakers, and a pig-tail to connect the helmet with the system.
Key to the success of this system is the use of military aircraft, dynamic noise
canceling microphones. The system will work only when used with helmets or headsets utilizing this type of microphone It is very important that the mic be as close to your mouth as practical when talking. Ideally your mouth should brush the mic as you speak. If it is too far away then your voice will be cancelled along with the ambient noise, resulting uin the person at the receiving end being unable to hear you.
In addition, a jack is installed on the outside of the helmet, enabling the user to plug earmolds in. These devices are tiny transducers that you insert directly into your ears, reducing outside noises and improving concentration, reducing fatigue, and greatly improving communication. This option can be added at any time.
Normal turn-around time for setting up your helmet is five business days after receipt of it at our Lake Havasu City shop. This time varies with the work load in our shop at the time it arrives.
Conversion of your helmet, including installing
speakers, high noise microphone, ear mold jack and pig tail to plug
into system, $220 Added cost per pair of earmolds
(custom or universal)$125

Headsets
For
those users in a high noise environment, but not in the race vehicle
where a helmet is required, the features of our systems can be
enjoyed by the use of headsets. These feature the same microphone
and earphones we build into the custom racing helmets. Custom built for us by an aviation headset manufacturer, the
Comp Com headsets will readily deliver the communications to
non-helmeted users. There are two such models available. The Pit
Star features a behind-the-head tension band and an over the
head, adjustable velcro strap. This permits wearing a cap over the
headset. The Classic model uses the more standard aviation
type over the head tension band. both units are supplied in red high
impact plastic with fully articulated three piece mic booms, and
military aircraft dynamic noise cancelling microphones, the same as
used in our famous racing helmets. Both types come with gelatin
filled ear seals and cloth covers providing superior ear sealing for
operation in high noise environments, and result in greater comfort
for the wearer. An optional vinyl carrying/storage bag with an
embroidered Comp Comm logo is available.
Headset
(either type) $295 Optional antenna mounted on headband (Classic
style only) to extend radio coverage $50 Vinyl carrying bag with
embroidered logo $30. Has pocket for flashlight and two bags fasten
together with velcro tabs. Can hold handheld plus headset. Protect
your headset between events and look cool doing it.
