Antenna Mounting Instructions

It is imperative that the antenna base mount be through a piece of metal. A tab off of an existing piece of metal with a 3/4" hole in it, a fuel tank or similar metal object will do. If no sheet metal surface (like a roof) is available put a 3/4" hole (no bigger, or the antenna will tear out) in the center of an 18" diameter piece of 20 gauge steel, and mount through that. Do not permit the whip to contact anything.

Carefully wire the PL259 connector to avoid shorts, check the continuity of the cable from the center of the PL259 to the whip, then check to be sure it is open between the PL259 center contact and the outside barrel.

Mount the antenna as high as possible, and as far away as practical from the radio, intercom, helmet cables, helmets, or the transmitter may induce noises into the system.
